A downloadable zine

Per Dolorem Silentio (PDS for short) is a very small, zine based, rules light miniature skirmish game. The game pits droves of 3-12 miniatures against each other, with a simple progression system that allows characters to improve, sustain injuries and die over the course of several games. Whilst the implied setting is that of gothic science fantasy, the rules should be open enough to allow games to take part in any sort of universe.

Spawned out of some rough house rules I've used to run small narrative campaigns over the years, this game intends to keep any rules bloat and unnecessary bookkeeping to the minimum, whilst providing a solid framework for the narrative to develop and push some cool models around the table. I believe the miniatures should always come before the rules, which is why I opted for a mix-and-match character creation system rather than unit profiles to work around. PDS is meant to be short, easy to learn, play and carry around in your back pocket.

Going forward, I intend to build upon the PDS system with optional thematic modules, expanding and adding features to the base game whilst keeping faithful to the tiny zine format.

This game is written as a celebration of miniature gaming and the many wonderful folks that populate it, in hopes of seeing more weird and unique independent wargames made by and for the community.

I'd like to thank all the people who dedicated time to proofread, playtest, encourage and ask during development; too many to remember, but all incredibly helpful.

I love this. Awesome style and flavour. I'm going to try and get a game together.

Your gothic aesthetic is sooo good!

This game looks interesting - great art illustrations.  I can see some "Planet 28" inspiration rules ;).

You didn't think about the fantasy version rules?

The aesthetic of this game is absolutely top-notch! I must know, is there any lore to go along with it?

Thanks!

Regarding the lore, there is some more coming up in future expansions, though it's all intentionally rather vague and told through narration and illustrations. It's set up more as a suggestion, something evocative to serve as a base for folks to build their own stories upon.

We've been talking about it on the discord server every now and then, hop in if you want, the more the merrier!
